Frequently Asked Questions

  • You or someone you know may be an ideal candidate for this service if any of the following apply:

    • Family history of skin cancer

    • Personal history of atypical moles, skin cancer, or melanoma

    • Skin type

    • Numerous moles

    • Photosensitivity

    • History of excessive sun exposure, sunburns, or tanning bed use

  • We do not currently accept insurance, but you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your health insurance plan. You can also use a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). Learn more about insurance reimbursement here.

  • Most patients only need new photos every 6–10 years, but we recommend following your dermatologist’s guidance.

  • Follow these guidelines to prepare for your appointment:

    • Remove ALL external body jewelry, including piercings and wedding rings, if possible.

    • Remove ALL nail and toenail polish.

    • Remove ALL make-up from face and any kind of body make-up.

    • Remove wigs and false eye lashes.

    • Hair should be pulled into a ponytail if it is long enough to do so.

    • Do not wear tight clothing because it can leave marks or indentations on the skin.

    • Discontinue use of spray tanner for one to two weeks prior to your appointment. The color must be gone by the day of your appointment.

    • If you have thick hair that visually obscures areas of your skin, consider shaving or hair removal prior to your appointment. (This does not apply to hair on your head.)

  • Please wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid marks or indentations on your skin. We provide a private changing room where you can change into the robe provided. For the most accurate results, we recommend removing all clothing, including undergarments, as it can be difficult to track areas of the skin that are not visible and captured by the camera.

  • Your images will be delivered digitally through our secure, HIPAA-compliant portal. You also have the option to purchase a printed portfolio or an encrypted flash drive, which will be shipped to you within 30 days of your appointment.
