What is
Total Body Photography?

We take 38+ skin photos to help identify skin changes for early detection of skin cancer. The images are used as a baseline during regular skin screenings with your dermatologist. This method, also known as Mole Mapping, is effective in spotting new, changed, or odd-looking moles that need closer examination by your dermatologist. Detecting skin cancer early, when treatment is most effective, has many patient benefits, including a five-year survival rate of 99% for individuals with melanoma.

Heidi Laabs - MySkin Photography Founder

I'm excited to share MySkin Photography with you. Since I had my total body photographs taken a decade ago, I feel more confident partnering with my dermatologist to monitor my skin. The baseline images help me to easily see if a mole is new or has changed.

I want these photos to bring you peace of mind and help you feel empowered on your skin health journey.

Skin Cancer Facts

Types of skin cancer

Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide. It arises when skin cells undergo abnormal growth due to DNA damage, often caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or tanning beds. There are three major types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma. Among these, melanoma is the most dangerous and has the highest potential for spreading to other parts of the body.

Importance of early detection

Early detection of skin cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. When identified at an early stage, skin cancer is often localized and can be treated effectively with minor surgical procedures, topical treatments, or laser therapy. Advanced stages, particularly with melanoma, may require more extensive treatments, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, which can be more invasive and less successful.
